FRANCE. 2 Louis d'Or, 1773-W. Lille Mint Louis XV (1715-74). NGC MS-62.
Fr-466; Dupl-1645; Ci-2090; Dr-719; Gad-347. A VERY SCARCE type known as the "double louis d'or à la vielle tête," struck 1771-75. The single finest certified example of this date at either NGC or PCGS. This date is listed in Gadoury as "common" for the type but all the gold coins of this bust (demi-louis, louis and double louis) are quite scarce. This example, though weakly struck, seems to be without nicks, bag marks or hairlines. NGC MS-62.
