GREAT BRITAIN. Collection of Queen Victoria Golden Jubilee Medals, 1887.
A spectacular grouping of Bronze medals issued to celebrate Queen Victoria's 50th year of reign, produced as national celebrations of her reign, and by various municipalities celebrating the Jubilee. There are also many issues for a wide range of dedications, expositions, and tradesmen's groups as well as one celebrating the production of a company's 3,000th locomotive engine proudly celebrated on the reverse of a medal celebrating the Queen's Golden Jubilee. All bear various veiled portraits of the Queen on the obverse, but have diverse reverse designs. All the medals, which are mostly different, are heavy bronze specimens with nicely matched mahogany patina, ranging in size from 26 to 65 mm. The set is housed in a custom antique Spink and Son gatefold display case of gilt-stamped red-brown leather and indigo velour. The case is in sound, functional condition, the exterior showing a few minor scuffs. Two brass clasps for locking the case shut have been lost over the years, but this does not detract. A very impressive display item that cannot be duplicated. NEARLY MINT STATE to MINT STATE.

Estimate: $3000.00- $4000.00
