Domitian AR Denarius. Rome, AD 81. IMP CAESAR DOMITIANVS AVG, laureate bust right / TR P COS VII, dolphin right, above filleted tripod on which are ravens standing left and right and, in centre, a wreath. RIC 5; BMCRE 4; C. 552. 3.28g, 18mm, 6h.
Good Fine. Very Rare; from the first issue of Domitian's reign, not yet calling him Pater Patriae or recording his designation to the consulship (which occurred in AD 82). Only three specimens of this type were present in the Reka Devnia hoard, and CoinArchives records only a further three examples.
