Double dirham category(?).
Glass jetons (or stamps) such as the present piece were often used as weight units, and many have legends noting the substance they were to be used in relation to, be that coins (dinar, dirham, fals, kharruba) or foods and liquids. Likewise, it appears that the colour of the glass and shape of the jetons was also an indicator of their function, perhaps including being used as currency, though there remains scholarly division on this subject. However, that there are many contemporary counterfeits (such as the following lot) indicates that a function beyond that of simple weight unit must have existed. "
