Cappadocian Kingdom. Ariobarzanes I, Philoromaios. 95-63 B.C. AR drachm (19.35 mm, 4.00 g, 12 h). Mazaka/Eusebeia mint, struck 81/80 B.C. Diademed head of Ariobarxzanes Philoromaios right / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΑΡΙΟΒΑΡΖΑΝΟΥ // ΦΙΛΟΡΟΜΑΙΟΥ, titles vertically downward to right and left of, and horizontally beneath Athena standing facing, head left, holding Victory and spear & shield; AT monogram in left field // IЄ (= year 15 = 81/80 B.C.). Cf. Simonetta 40, 13c; Cf. SNG Aul. 631; Cf. SNG Copenhagen suppl. 934-6. rough VF / VF, somewhat porous, obverse 30% off-center to west; re-toning gracefully from over-enthusiastic cleaning in past. Presumably this monogram + year is quite Rare .
