EGYPT, Alexandria. Trajan. AD 98-117. BI Tetradrachm (22mm, 9.87 g, 12h). Dated RY 6 (AD 102/103). Laureate head right / Trophy; at base to left and right, bound captive; L ς (date) across field. Köln 459; Dattari (Savio) –; K&G 27.44; RPC III 4161; Emmett 394.6 (R5). Fine, toned, some porosity. Extremely rare, the authors of RPC cite only two specimens: the Köln cabinet coin, and a coin in the Demetrio collection (Athens).
An interesting obverse die flaw, which almost gives the appearance of a countermark.
