THRACO-MACEDONIAN REGION. Uncertain. 5th century BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 10 mm, 0.44 g). Oinochoe between two pellets. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Hardwick, Terone, -. SNG ANS -. Tsintsifos, Perix Pangaion Epeiros -. Very rare. Edge split as made, otherwise, good very fine.
From a German collection, assembled since the 1960s.
The obverse type of this charming little coin is reminiscent of Terone, but the two pellets and the small incuse square differ from that mints regular coinage. It is therefore best to ascribe it to an uncertain Thraco-Macedonian mint for the time being.
