KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.01 g, 12 h), 'Amphipolis', struck under Antipater, circa 323-320. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle with closed wings in right; to left, Athena Promachos standing right. Price 105. A lightly toned and very well centered example. Very fine.
