KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.68 g, 12 h), the obverse die signed by Dan..., Rhodes, circa 201-190. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress; on the lip, signature ΔAN. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram above rose; below throne, PO. Price 2514. Rare. A bold and impressive example with light toning. Light doubling on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

This is one of just very few known cases of an artist signing his work on a Hellenistic tetradrachm.
