ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. 'Umara ibn Tamim. Viceregal Governor of Sijistan, AH 84-85 / AD . AR Drachm (31mm, 4.02 g, 5h). Arab-Sasanian type. SK (Sijistan) mint. Dated AH 84 in Pahlavi (AD 704). Crowned Sasanian-style bust right; double border, star-in-crescents in margin; bismillah and rabbi in Arabic, and nywk (= good) in Pahlavi in outer margin / Fire altar with ribbons and attendants; triple border, star-in-crescents in margin. Cf. SICA I, p. 34; Walker, Arab-Sasanian –; cf. Album C40 (for type); ICV 57 ; CNG 102, lot 1260 (same obv. die). Good VF, traces of deposits.
