Septimius Severus, 193-211. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 28 mm, 16.52 g, 12 h), Rome, 195. L SEPT SEV PERT AVG IMP VIII Laureate and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus to right, seen from behind. Rev. ADVENTVI AVG FELICISSIMO / S C Septimius on horseback right, raising his right hand and holding the reins in his left; to right, soldier advancing right, holding reins in his right hand and ensign in his left. Cohen 8. RIC 719. An impressive Sestertius with a red-green patina and a powerful and artistic bust of Septimius. Design strengthened by tooling and fields smoothed, otherwise, good very fine.
