Hyperpyron (Gold, 28 mm, 3.91 g, 6 h), Third series, Constantinople, 1137-1143. + KE ROHΘEI / IC-XC Christ, nimbate, seated facing on throne, holding book of Gospels and raising right hand in benediction. Rev. +Iω ΔECΠOTH / MHP-ΘY The Virgin Mary, on the right, standing facing and raising her right hand to crown the emperor, standing facing on the left. DOC 3aSB 1940. Toned, and surprisingly well struck. Graffito on obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
