SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. Onkia (Bronze, 13 mm, 1.19 g, 3 h), circa 440-430 BC. ΣYPA Head of Arethusa to right, dolphin swimming behind neck. Rev. Octopus with spread tentacles. SNG ANS 384. Impressive little onkia with a natural brown patina. Very fine.
