John Comnenus-Ducas, as emperor of Thessalonica, 1237-1242. Trachy (Bronze, 20 mm, 0.57 g, 6 h), Thessalonika. Facing bust of winged cherubim. Rev. John and St. Demetrius standing facing, holding between them a long cross surmounted by globule. DOC 25. SB 2210. Dark brown patina, attractive details for type. Irregular flan as usual, otherwise, very fine.
