Troas, Dardanos AR Drachm. Circa 550-500 BC. Cockerel standing to right; four pellets in stellate pattern behind, two pellets before / Two incuse punches of unequal size. Cf. BMC Troas p. XLII for type; otherwise unpublished in the standard references. 5.38g, 16mm.

Good Very Fine. Apparently unpublished and possibly unique. A fascinating piece that undoubtedly represents the earliest known coinage of Dardanos.

From the A.F. Collection, Germany.
