CHINA. Kiangnan. 10 Cash Uniface Mint Error, ND (ca. 1906). NGC MINT ERROR VF Details--Scratches.
cf.CL-KN.52(for basic type); Duan-0497 (for basic type); cf.CCC-209 (for basic type); W-Unlisted(Die # 10); cf.Y-A140 (for basic type). VERY RARE and a very interesting error. This type of error is caused when two planchets are fed in between the dies at the same time and subsequently struck at the same time. Since only one side of either planchet was exposed to the dies the inner side of the planchets were left unaffected. Thus creating a uniface striking. Light scratches on the reverse from long ago account for the details designation. Otherwise an attractive example with lovely chocolate surfaces. Sure to add depth to the next collection it enters.
