CHINA. Szechuan. Pattern Cash Error, ND (1897). PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder.
cf.KM-Pn2; cf.Hsu-3; cf.Duan-3912. VERY RARE. Struck in brass without square hole punched out. Produced by the Ferracute company in New Jersey. An interesting error that appears to be uniface, but in fact is the result of two planchets being fed in between the dies at the same time and subsequently struck at the same time. The attribution to Szechuan is based on the style of the characters and the thin rim which matches exactly to the SP-65 example also in this sale. Minor debris and thin fine planchet cracks define the grade. Lightly toned with hints of luster amongst the devices. Very interesting and sure to excite even the most advanced collector of Szechuan, Imperial or Cash coinage. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder.

From the Q. David Bowers Collection.

Ex: R. B. White.

Estimate: $700.00- $1000.00
