CHINA. Pattern Fen, Year 25 (1936). Tientsin Mint. PCGS SP-63 BN Secure Holder.
CL-MG.104; CCC-760. Tied for finest certified at PCGS with only one other example. EXTREMELY RARE. Obverse: denomination in barley wreath, date below, within key pattern border; Reverse: bunch of rice, Chinese legend around, within key pattern border. This pattern, one of a series (CCC-755 thru 765), is unusual in bearing the AD date 1936. Though an official pattern it never made its way into full production due to the invasion of the Imperial Japanese army. After the July 7 incident or Lugou Bridge Incident Song Zheyuan was forced to leave Beijing in the late July of 1937 and production cease. Well struck with some muted mint red remaining. An attractive example worthy of a premium bid. PCGS SP-63 BN Secure Holder.

From the Q. David Bowers Collection.

Ex: R. B. White.

Estimate: $7000.00- $10000.00
