CHINA. Peking. Fantasy 10 Cash Struck in Copper, (1900). PCGS MS-63 BN Secure Holder.
CCC-772; W1340 (PAp-P1p); Hsu-422. If this is a fantasy, it is an old one, as it is mentioned in Woodward, wherein he notes (p. 149), "A neat coin ostensibly having been made for circulation in Peking, but which, after a few trial pieces had been minted, was discarded as unsuitable, because the fact was undoubtedly recognized that had the principle of a coin for a city been given effect, all the cities in China would have claimed the same privilege. Let us be thankful that the piece was not approved." Sharply struck with excellent definition of the fine details. Handsome chocolate brown throughout. PCGS MS-63 BN Secure Holder.
