CHINA. Pattern 50 Cents, Year 3 (1914). PCGS SP Genuine--Cleaning, AU Details Secure Holder.
L&M-68; K-655a; KM-Pn27; WS-0170. Wenchao-pg. 537#861 (rarity three stars); Shanghai Museum-Mr. Shi Jiagan's collection-pg. 139#639; Sun-III-2-17; Shih-D1-4. VERY RARE. Signed "L. GIORGI". Designed by the prolific die engraver and head of the Tientsen mint from 1910 to 1920, Luigi Giorgi, and though not his first design with the effigy of Yuan Shih-kai this would ultimately become the adopted design of the new national coinage which was first emitted on Christmas of 1914 from the newly rebuilt mint in Tientsen which had burnt down in 1912. Sharply struck, toned and attractive despite the details designation. PCGS SP Genuine--Cleaning, AU Details Secure Holder.
