26.59 gms. S-2730; Fr-258; KM-338. "OX" below date. VERY RARE and the only example of this variety certified at either PCGS or NGC. 1644 by itself being the most difficult date to locate of this short lived 3 year type. Crowned bust of Charles I holding sword and olive branch, legend around; Reverse: 3 line declaration, denomination above, date below, legend around. The largest and heaviest hammered gold coin ever to be struck in England. Nice even strike showing good detail on the king's portrait, minimal doubling showing clear legends on both sides, light tone with soft satin luster. A highly desirable and quite attractive example of this elusive issue. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder.

Estimate: $70000.00- $100000.00
