FRANCE. Aquitaine. Leopard d'Or, ND (3rd Issue, July 1357). Edward III, King of England (1327-77). VERY FINE.
Fr-4; Elias-39a; Hewlett-Pl. III # 5. During his reign, Edward was generally considered a good monarch and like many rulers of the time he maintained order and sought to expand his territory. The gold coinage of Edward III can be divided in the four distinct types: the Florin, Ecu, Leopard and the Guiennois. Each contains legends with direct correlation of the political atmosphere between France and England. Planchet crack extending about half way through the coin. VERY FINE.
Estimate: $300.00- $500.00
