Tabaristan, Abbasid Governors. 'Umar b. al-'Ala. 771-780. AR hemidrachm (24 mm, 1.94 g, 12 h). Fifth series with name in Pahlavi and Arabic. PYE 125. Crowned Sasanian style bust right / Fire altar flanked by attendants; stars flanking flames; fleur-de-lys in place of normal three-pellets in outer margin. Malek 77; Album 57 (r). Flan just a tough wavy. Extremely fine.
