Macedonian Kingdom. Philip III Arrhidaios. 323-317 B.C. AR drachm (18 mm, 12 h). Abydos. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ, Zeus seated left, holding eagle and scepter; in left field, monogram above pentagram; below throne, swan (or coiled serpent) right. Cf. Price P28 (stater); ADM II 175 (same dies). NGC Ch VF.
The symbol below the throne on the reverse of this Philip III drachm is noted in ADM to be a coiled serpent. Close inspection, though, seems to show a swan.
