Hadrian. AD 117-138. AR Cistophorus (29mm, 10.53 g, 6h). Ephesus mint. Struck after AD 128. Bare head right / Aesculapius standing left, leaning on serpent-entwined staff. RIC II 481a; Metcalf, Cistophori, type 20, 89-98 var. (unlisted dies); RSC 290. VF, toned, scratches, flan crack. Overstruck on an earlier, uncertain cistophorus. Lot includes old cabinet holder made of thick cardboard.
