Copper Pattern/Die Trials, ½-Rupee (no mintmark), 1884B, off-metal strikes in copper, obv VICTORIA EMPRESS (SW 6.192 where the listing should be under mintmark "Br"). In NGC holder, graded MS62BN, with a touch of mint red - only 2 coins graded with NGC and 1 with PCGS. This is the year that the Mint seems to have started striking some of its coins in copper. Whether to test the dies or as inexpensive examples to be given out it may never be known. The copper pieces disappear by 1892, but by then they have become a very serious issue struck to proof standards.
