The government of Japan concluded that a restoration of the gold standard was necessary as Japan's foreign loans were coming due and needed to be refinanced, however the yen was taken off the gold standard again in December 1931.
Hamaguchi Osachi was shot in the Tokyo Railway Station by a right-wing youth in November 1930. He died of his wounds almost a year later.
