336-323 BC. Tetradrachm, 16.68g (12h). Mesembria, c. 175-125 BC. Obv: Head of Heracles right wearing lion-skin headdress. Rx: BAΣIΛEΩ[Σ] on right, [A]ΛEΞANΔP[OY] on left, Zeus seated left holding eagle and scepter; in right field, Corinthian helmet right above MA; under throne, ΠοΑ monogram. Overstruck; traces of undertype visible behind head on obverse and at 3-4 o'clock on reverse edge. Price 1082. Ex Philip T. Ashton Collection. Purchased from Ken Dorney, December 1999.
