Quartet of Louis XIV 4 Sol aux 2 L Pieces,
1) 1691-X XF, Amiens mint, KM281.17, Gad-106. Medium gray. Struck over Gad-103, as they all were. On this example part of the reverse design of the undertype almost obliterates the King's upper head.
2) 1691-& AU, Aix mint, KM281.19, Gad-106. Light gray, with no mint luster remaining and probably cleaned in the past.
3) 1691-9 XF, Rennes mint, KM281.20, Gad-106. Medium gray and struck slightly off center from deteriorating dies.
4) 1692-A AU, Paris mint, KM281.1, Gad-106. Light to medium gray. The King's cheek and neck show evidence of the undertype.
