Nova Scotia. Victoria Mayflower 1/2 Penny 1856, Medal Alignment PR65 Brown NGC, Br-876, NS-5A1 var., Haxby-MSH-1 (dies SH-1+SH-A). Brilliant finish, medal alignment, bronze. Red & brown with a couple of toning spots. The reverse is fully struck up in the center, while the obverse shows signs of double-striking, especially along the back of the Queen's neck.
Pattern obverse (Haxby die SH-1): L.C.W. (for Leonard Charles Wyon) below bust. Bust tip ends well to the left of the 1 of the date below.
Pattern reverse (Haxby die SH-A): Small bud under V of PROVINCE; V of PROVINCE is sharply doubled, plus weakly repunched with an inverted A; intact stem under PR of PROVINCE.
