Lower Canada. Bust & Harp 1/2 Penny Token 1825 VF30 Brown NGC, Br-1012, LC-60A1, Courteau-21, 5.45 gm. A very acceptable example of one of the classic Canadian rarities. It is believed that the date represents the true date of manufacture and that perhaps only a single die was so dated; after the mint realized that a Lower Canadian statute outlawed any tokens dated 1825 or later, the remaining and all new dies were dated 1820. The present piece was W.W.C. Wilson's. It then passed to L.A. Langstroth, John McKay-Clements and ultimately to Mr. Robins.
