Province of Canada. Bronzed Specimen Bank of Montreal / City Bank Mule Penny 1837 PR61 Brown NGC, Br-Unl, PC-2A1. Copper, medal alignment, 19.72 gm. Obverse evenly toned, reverse has medium and dark brown toning. It is important to note that this and the other Specimen strike to come are both from the dies in later states than the first business strikes. Specimen strikes of this mule are much scarcer than the business strikes.
Haxby Group 4: Small cracks to the A of BANK and through the N of PROVINCE to the chimney (clear from the edge to the N, but faint from the N to the chimney). No diagonal die scratch to the right of the last A in CANADA, or rust mark at the top left side of the O of BANK OF MONTREAL.
