Province of Canada. Bank of Montreal / City Bank Mule Penny 1837 MS64 Brown NGC, Br-Unl, PC-2A1. Copper, medal alignment, 17.88 gm.
Haxby Group 8: The cracks through the A of BANK and the N of PROVINCE have extended. The left half of the triangle at the top of the A is filled and the crack through the N extends across the corner of the roof to the top of the second window from the right in the top story. There are more rust spots in the lower obverse (the bottom right side of the window to the left of the columns; along the left side of three of the four columns) and the lower half of the die has been polished to reduce these. In the process much of the raised door molding and the window sashes of the lower two stories have been considerably weakened. Also, the previously clear die scratch below the A of CANADA has been completely removed.
