Republic gold 20000 Reis 1904 MS63 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM497, Fr-124, LMB-O724. One of the rarest dates within the series, this impressive example is from a paltry output of just 444 pieces. Exceedingly lustrous and charmingly toned, the present specimen is only the second mint state grade for the date by NGC, the other being an MS62 which realized a hammer of $9,000 in our 2014 NYINC auction (sale 3030, lot 23171). Accordingly, the importance and majesty of this piece cannot be rivaled, and it should undoubtedly attract a good deal of attention.
