This example, the original 1912 striking, boasts an exceptionally well-executed and frosty portrait of Ferdinand starkly contrasting against the mirrorlike field. Although with a number of hairlines to the field this does not detract from the prooflike effect and overall impact of this piece. We offered an example graded AU58 NGC in our auction 3061, January 2018, which realized $2,200 hammer, so we expect this piece to easily surpass that figure.
