McGill University gold "Anna Molson" Sciences Medal 1864 UNC - Edge Filed, 45mm/53.07g. Joseph & Allan Wyon. Obv: Isaac Newton bust left. Rev: 4-line inscription inside wreath, shield above. Newton's bust was executed in sculptural relief with strong cameo-producing frost on display on it and the surrounding raised design. Deep reflectivity exists in the fields with only minor signs of handling. A few light file marks are observed on the obverse edges. Established by an endowment left by Anna Molson, this medal was awarded by the university for accomplishments in Science, Mathematics and Physics. We are only aware of one other example in gold.
