Louis Philippe (1830-1849) Gilt Brass Pattern 10 Francs (1830) SP62 PCGS, Paris mint, Maz-1083b. Reverse uniface, by Joseph-Francois Domard. Offered separately is the obverse uniface for this coin. This rare and unusual pattern represents an early attempt to introduce the 10 franc coin, 20 years before the first official currency issue emerged in 1850. Although this beautiful design was never to be reproduced as a currency striking, this nonetheless remains an intriguing and attractive piece of French numismatic history, finely engraved, executed and in a high certification of preservation.
