Cologne. City Goldgulden 1570 VF35 NGC, KM-MB204, Fr-759. 3.26gm. Mintage: 8,564. With an obverse that shows the shield of Cologne arms in the center of a pointed quatrefoil, with small shields of arms at each point surrounded by legend and date. The reverse depicts the crowned, Imperial eagle with the titles of Maximilian II. A worn example of this fleeting type, with deeply patinated surfaces that aid in overall eye appeal, and blushes of copper color that are nestled within the recesses. Very much an offering worthy of attention. Sold with an old sales envelope.
