Charles II gold 2 Guineas 1684 VF - Cleaned, KM443.1, S-3335. Evidently an ex-jewelery piece, showing cleaned surfaces and mount marks; produced in 1684, the last year of Charles II's coinage before his death, this was perhaps worn as a mourning piece for the popular King who followed the dour Cromwell as ruler of England. Examination of the legends show hints of this coin's original luster, and generally a good coverage of detail all around; some scratches on the reverse should, however, be noted. Overall a presentable specimen, and an interesting piece of British 17th century history.
