Great Britain
William III 1/2 Penny 1700 MS64 Red and Brown NGC, KM503, S-3556, P-701 (this coin). Both As in BRITΛNNIΛ unbarred. This superb specimen is the finest certified example across NGC and PCGS, and very probably one of the finest of this date to exist. For the type the striking is especially strong, particularly on William's bust, Britannia showing the usual lack of definition; there is no discernible wear to the coin, as if it was put aside directly after its production. A great deal of fiery red luster survives in the legend and raised devices, exceptional for this issue; the eye appeal is tremendous and the piece quite extraordinary. This, the Peck plate coin (listed on the NGC holder), is likely the finest 1700 halfpenny you will find, and with an impressive pedigree. Worthy of a strong bid befitting such a strong example.
