George II gold Guinea 1747 AU58 NGC, KM-588, S-3680. The shallowly engraved design of this popular guinea type often results in a somewhat lower level of certification, and thus an AU58 certified specimen such as this, bordering on Mint State, is choice indeed. With no higher graded across either NGC or PCGS, this is as elite an example as currently exists on the market. Its surfaces are all but perfect, the strike wonderfully even, the toning a lovely peach glow over abundant original luster; all in all the appearance is prooflike, George's portrait crisp, and seemingly more matte than the reflective fields behind. A premium and umatched offering, worthy of the finest collection of guineas.
