George III counterstamped Bank of England Dollar (1797-99) AU55 NGC, KM626, S-3765A, ESC-138. Oval counterstamp on a 1794 PTS-PR Bolivian 8 Reales of Charles IV. A handsome example in a higher-than-average certification for the type. The oval counterstamp of George III is razor-sharp, his portrait emphasized by a dark toning which has neatly filled the sunken remainder left by the punch, whilst the host coin itself is also very presentable, illuminated by a soft gold patina and residual luster.
