George IV gold 2 Pounds 1823 AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, KM690, S-3798. Despite its certification this fetching example was clearly cleaned in antiquity and is now partially retoned, original lustrous surfaces clearly visible in the recesses and within the legend, the margins showing bold and attractive red patina. Numerous mild contact marks diagnostic of some circulation, overall a very attractive piece, the first year for this denomination and the only year for this bust type.
