William IV gold Sovereign 1832 AU58 NGC, KM717, S-3829B. In the cataloger's eyes, this example is Mint State. There is perhaps some loss of definition to the uppermost curls of William's hair, but this could be very likely a result of a softer strike or of die wear than of actual contact with the coin. This fabulous offering is fully lustrous, the devices crisp, no detracting marks present on any surface; a specimen of seemingly equal quality or close to it, more highly certified as MS64+ PCGS, achieved a hammer price of $6,500 in our auction 3061, January 2018. Special attention is invited for this coin, and we expect bids in keeping with its preservation and extraordinary eye-appeal.
