Victoria bronzed Proof Penny 1839 PR64 PCGS, Royal mint, KM739a, S-3948, Peck-1479. An absolutely lovely example, lustrous brown fields fringed with a ring of burnt sienna, the bronzing sleek and even. The chiseled devices are near-pristine and exceptionally sharp, and gleam in such a way as to imply great depth. Rare to find a specimen as attractive as this; a comparable example graded PR65 Brown NGC achieved $4,300 hammer in our auction 3042, September 2015.
