Victoria Bronze Proof Farthing 1866 PR65 Brown PCGS, Royal mint, KM747.2, S-3958, P-1877 (this coin, extremely rare). A stunning numismatic rarity and supposedly one of only two known to exist. A Peck coin and listed by him as extremely rare, a dealer's envelope included as part of this coin's pedigree states that it is "first seen in 25 years"; this testament to its scarcity is bolstered by this being the sole example of the type certified by either NGC or PCGS. Visually it is especially appealing; a gorgeous chocolate brown color with a subdued gleam over the fields, the strike especially well-executed, parts of the obverse occupied by a startling magenta tone, and extremely highly certified. It is telling that this farthing is attributed to having been in the Carter collection, as Carter is known to have only collected the absolute finest specimens available - and it is easy to believe that he would have gratefully accepted this once-in-a-lifetime offering of this exceptional proof.
Ex. C. W. Peck (1877); Ex. Dr. E. C. Carter
