Liege
Sede Vacante Patagon (48 Sols) 1792 AU55 NGC, KM181, Dav-1591. This specimen represents the final coinage from Liege, struck after the nobles had lost control of the city, and three years before it was annexed by the French; with a reported mintage of only 150 pieces, this is only the second example of this extremely rare issue seen by PCGS or NGC, and by far the highest certified. Light even wear on the highest points, beyond which the detail is crisp and fully represented, argent in the field with a dusky golden patina highlighting the devices and legend. A particular rarity in a comparatively premium level of certification, and a must-have for collectors of the Belgian or Liege series.
