Charles & Johanna "Early Series" 1/4 Real ND (1536-42) M-P VF Details (Environmental Damage) NGC, Mexico City mint, KM0005, Cal-193, Nesmith-22. 15mm/.66g. Like all cuartilla issues of Charles and Johanna, extremely rare, with this coin likely being a ground burial find, the surfaces showing moderate graphite-hued corrosion over a base of brown-toned metal. Pleasing detail remains, with the M-P boldly showing in the centers and the surrounding legends being nearly fully legible. One of three potentially known, with another example in the ANS and other example rumored to exist, but not confirmed. An important coin for the series specialist.
