Charles & Johanna "Early Series" Real ND (1536-42) G/◦M◦-◦M/P◦ F15 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM0007, Cal-134, Nesmith-9. 23mm/3.2g. A rare variety, seemingly struck using re-cut 'P' assayer dies, so that the initial to the right of the shield would appear more like an ◦M◦ mintmark instead of the previous assayer's initial. Moderate softening of the highpoints defines the grade, but the in-hand appearance remains quite pleasing. Only the second example that we're aware of, the other cited in The Coinage of the First Mint of the Americas at Mexico City as part of the Nesmith collection, which now resides in the ANS.
