Philip V gold Cob 8 Escudos 1732/0 Mo-F/R VF35 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM57.2, Cal-120. The very rare final cob date for Philip V, struck on a compact, yet nearly fully rounded flan, with an ideal strike that not only displays the full four-digit date, but also exhibits a prominently centered cross on the reverse. Grade-defining wear has softened some of the design elements, however evidence of what appears to be an '0' shows beneath the final digit in the date, with remnants of a letter visible beneath the 'F' assayer initial as well (although that letter could presumably be either a 'G' or 'R'). For those who collect this series by date, few coins from this amazing selection should be more exciting.
